"Once a giant like Motorola has fallen, it's only a matter time before it gets up again." Simply not true - Look at the american car companies for a very recent example. There is no reason to believe Motorola can become a leader again in the mobile phone business, not without new talent.
@bahellman I agree with your thoughts on Motorola's phone business, personally I've never had good luck with Motorola phones, they seem to break in one way or another. Motorola as a company however does have a strong chance of bouncing back bec they have a strong R&D program. "Motorola makes huge investments in research and development. Over 22,000 engineers and scientists are on the Motorola team. We have over 21,300 patents, and counting. Motorola manages an R&D portfolio of over $4.1 billion aimed at delivering commercial value and shaping the future with innovative technology and architectures."
