The filing will eliminate close to $42 million in gift cards, affecting about 400,000 customers. Gift cards become worthless when a company files for bankruptcy protection.
Similar situation recently happened with Sharper Image. The company placed all gift cards on hold first. Didn't even give consumers a chance.
