Microsoft invests in Facebook and then Bill Gates goes and gives huge PR to Linkedin. Forget the 19 million current members, imagine how many registrations this will yield.
I don't think they're really competitors in the same space. Facebook is about personal relationships and LinkedIn is about professional ones. I use both for just that reason. Now he can conquer both spaces.
