Chrysler in-car Internet raises concerns: report ( 4mth ago )
"In-car internet is a great idea that should extend far beyond drivers surfing from behind the wheel. The ability to develop social SaS apps around driving habits, monitor vehicle performance, sync navigation data and get real time, location specific traffic info, news and weather are only the obvious starting points. Sure, there'll be irresponsible users. If we are truly concerned for the safety of our roads we would encourage our lawmakers to require auto manufacturers to develop smarter auto UIs. Case in point: conversations in our cars are not a problem, the way we interact with the hardware is the problem. EVERY vehicle the rolls off the assembly line should have a universal, hands-free communication system built-in. Stop the fumbling and you prevent a majority of the accidents. I'm sure there used to be a lot of accidents due to beverages prior to the widespread adoption of cup holders. The real challenge to on the road internet is going to be network infrastructure and pricing."

AT&T price cut could juice iPhone sales ( 8mth ago )
"If AT&T really wants to use the iPhone as a siren's song to lull new users to it's network the carrier should give the locked handset away for "free" and create special iPhone rates that cover the cost of the device. The $500 price tag split across a standard 2yr contract would only be an extra $20 per month. Seriously, what's a $200 subsidy in the face of the $2,400 the average user is going to pay for two years of iPhone use?"
