About nobosh
What is nobosh.com?
nobosh is a business, finance and technology news site that uses multiple, complex algorithms to present you with the most nobosh (meaning: no nonsense; see below for more information about our name) content at the time of your visit. With the abundance of information on the internet today, users need a way to find only the nobosh, and leave the bosh behind. This is what nobosh.com provides. Google, eat your heart out!
What does "nobosh" mean?
While you won't find "nobosh" in the dictionary, the term is derived from an actual word in the English language, "bosh." Used to describe something that is absurd or nonsensical, we took the term "bosh" and put "no" in front of it to describe the type of news you'll find on this site: no nonsense, or as you'll hear it referred to from now on, nobosh.
What makes nobosh.com different from other news aggregating sites?
nobosh.com sets itself apart from all other news aggregating sites with its exceptional algorithms specifically tailored for business, finance, and technology news. Check out the Friend Feed, Viewing History, and other great features and you'll see that nobosh.com is one of a kind!
Who made nobosh.com?
You! nobosh is made by you - we do not have any editors. Every time you visit and interact with the stories on the site, you affect the articles displayed and their ranking in relation to others. (Here's the more standard answer you may have been looking for: B.A. Hellman and friends handle the behind-the-scenes work at nobosh.com).
General Questions
What are some of the ways nobosh.com will help me?
nobosh makes an amazing homepage, keeping you up to date on the latest and most relevant business, finance, and technology news without making you sift through the fluff you would never read. With the Friend Feed (see below for more information), you'll also be able to keep tabs on what your friends, family, and colleagues are reading and commenting upon. nobosh may not be able to make you smarter, but you sure will be able to hold your own during intelligent conversations...
What does it mean to Add a Friend?
Use the Add a Friend feature to search, find, and include your friends who are already current users on nobosh.com into your Friend Feed. When you add a friend, they will receive an email that asks them to confirm your friend request. You will receive a notification on nobosh.com when your friend request is confirmed.
What does it mean to Invite a Friend?
The Invite a Friend feature allows you to send an email to one or more of your friends who are not yet part of the nobosh community, inviting them to join. This feature provides the option of importing email addresses from Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, Gmail, MSN, Live.com, or Comcast address books. If your friend then registers on nobosh.com (which we hope they do!), you will be able to find and include them as your friend using the Add a Friend feature (see above).
What is the Friend Feed?
When one of your friend requests is confirmed (or you confirm someone else's friend request), you two officially become friends on nobosh.com! Your Friend Feed shows you the activities of all your nobosh.com friends - what they have read, commented upon, nobosh'ed, and bosh'ed. Often, we share similar interests with our friends and are engaged by same news they are (and even when we don't, it's fun to see what stories caught their eye). nobosh.com makes it easy to stay in the same news loop as your friends.
Can I delete a previously confirmed friend?
Yes, click here to be redirected to your account page.
Where I ignore a friend request or delete a friend, are the requesters notified?
No. Notifications are only sent out when a friend request is confirmed.
What is Viewing History?
How many times have you been unsuccessful when trying to find an interesting article you read days ago? So often, the story is lost or simply impossible to find. The nobosh.com solution to this problem is the Viewing History. Every time you read a story, it's logged in your Viewing History. Never lose tabs on a story again!
What does "nobosh it!" mean?
When you click "nobosh it!" you are indicating that you enjoy the story, think the content is engaging, and recommend the story to other nobosh users. The nobosh.com algorithms take these positive votes into account, along with a variety of other factors, when we process the latest stories and determine what will appear on the site.
